ART CITIES OF THE FUTURE
A comprehensive volume, revealing twelve global cities at the forefront of a new order of art communities seizing the contemporary art agenda around the world.
Commissioned by Phaidon, Art Cities of the Future is a comprehensive volume, revealing twelve global cities at the forefront of a new order of art communities seizing the contemporary art agenda around the world.
A unique flag representing each new city was created to connect these forward-looking international communities and to give structure to the wide-ranging material within the book. A reductive, graphic approach to the design of the flags and typography provided a clear counterpoint between the variety of content and the book’s future-orientated perspective.
The dust jacket is made from a fold-out flag extending the ‘new international’ design concept that underpins the book’s design structure. Beneath this is a high-gloss monotone cover, which offsets the jacket and the cut-flush edges convey the contemporary nature of the content within the book.
